The "Global Confederation of Higher Education Associations for Agricultural and Life Sciences" (GCHERA) is a worldwide association of which Agreenium and the "Association for European Life Science Universities relating to agriculture, forestry, food, natural resources, rural development and the environment"(ICA) are members, representing Europe. In addition, Agreenium is an associate member of ICA (initially the Interfaculty Committee Agraria).
Each year GCHERA awards a world prize for academic merit in the agrobiosciences to two recipients, one from a country with a developed economy and one from a country with a emerging economy.
GCHERA announced in a press release that the awards were given to Professor Zhang Fusuode of China Agricultural University and Professor Emeritus Pamela Ronald of the University of California-Davis, in recognition of their outstanding achievements in teaching and scientific research in agriculture and life sciences.
The two winners will each receive their awards at a ceremony to be held on 1 December 2020, transmitted virtually from Nanjing Agricultural University in the People's Republic of China. Each US$100,000 prize is sponsored by the Nanjing Agricultural University Educational Development Foundation and the Da Bei Nong Group.
