Work to modernise the veterinary diploma reference framework was launched on 4 October during a work session attended by nearly 74 lecturers and veterinary surgeons from four veterinary colleges.

This mission entrusted to Agreenium by law should produce a result by end June 2017. The aim is to confirm international recognition of the diploma and anticipate the expectations of professionals and citizens.

An initial training curriculum must be forward-thinking to deliver young adapted and adaptable graduates into the job market. The current national diploma reference framework that sets out the initial veterinary training dates back to 2008; it must be developed to take into account the expectations of professionals and citizens and the most recent international training standards.

It is essential to update the framework to maintain international recognition of the diploma, especially since the new May 2016 version of accreditation procedures from the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (AEEEV) introducing the need to ensure the assessment of student skills.

When Agreenium was created, it was made responsible for reinforcing cooperation between the National Veterinary Colleges with this in mind. After some time spent in building up the method working closely with the colleges, the project launch meeting was held on 4 October.

Nearly 75 lecturers and veterinary surgeons in all disciplines from the four veterinary colleges met at the Alfort National Veterinary College to work together on the skills sought for the future young graduates.

Eight working groups were set up for the following skills: advise and prevent, draw up a diagnosis, care for and treat, act for public health, manage a business, communicate, act scientifically and act responsibly.
