UMR 1313 - Animal Genetics and Integrative Biology (GABI)

Understanding and making use of genetic variability for high-performance, sustainable animal production: the scientific interests of the Gabi UMR focus on improving our understanding of the basis of the genetic variability of biological functions and developing methods and tools for breeding and for the conservation of animal populations. The unit makes use of interdisciplinary skills in genetics, genomics, modeling, biostatistics and biology, and its activities extend from the acquisition of new knowledge to methodological innovation and transfer in the field.

Research is organized around four scientific axes:

  • Genetic variability and trait variations
  • Dynamics of genes, genomes and populations
  • Prediction of performance
  • Modeling
