The Lyon Laboratory mainly contributes to improving the health of ruminants.
It specialises in neurodegenerative diseases such as transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs), antimicrobial resistance, mycoplasma infections, emerging viral diseases (Rift Valley fever, hantavirus), and epidemiology of animal diseases.
It studies the agents responsible for major and emerging diseases and pathogenic bacteria in ruminants (antimicrobial resistance and virulence).
It monitors the emergence and spread of diseases and analyses their causes.
The Lyon Laboratory also has a unit dedicated to monitoring and studying the resistance of harmful organisms to plant protection products, and is particularly specialised in monitoring such resistance.
