UMR 874 - Prairie ecosystem (UREP)

The project of the unit focuses on "the ecology, functioning and services of permanent grassland in a context of global change". It is positioned in a promising context and makes it possible to meet both expectations in terms of cognitive work (science front) and finalised work (societal demand).
The challenge is to contribute to sustainable management of the prairie ecosystem in a changing context (climate and multifunctionality of agriculture). For this, we develop an integrative and predictive approach combining observation, experimentation and modelling. The project is organized around two thematic components:
• C/N and Greenhouse Effect Cycles
• Biodiversity, functioning and dynamics of grassland ecosystems

Keywords : sustainable agriculture, extensive agriculture, nitrogen, biodiversity, carbon, climate change, competition, biogeochemical cycle, carbon dioxide, gas exchange, ecophysiology, ecosystem, greenhouse effect, forage, modelling, grazing, plant stand, grassland, productivity, quality, simulation
