USC 1381 - Statistics, Sensometry, Chemometrics (StatSC)

The research themes of the StatSC unit (Statistics, Sensometry, Chemometrics) are related to exploratory data analysis and statistical modelling. The unit has developed specific expertise in the field of Sensometry (processing of sensory analysis data; analysis of consumer preferences; free sorting procedures, pairwise comparisons) as well as in the field of Chemistry (processing of data acquired in spectrometry or spectroscopy; -omics data; hyperspectral images).

The StatSC unit works on the development of multi-block (ACOM, ComDim) and/or multi-group data analysis methods, and in general methods dedicated to large data, often highly redundant. The classification of variables (CLV), as well as the processing of data from free sorting or pairwise comparisons, the exploitation of hyperspectral images are other strong research themes within the unit.

The dissemination of the statistical methods developed involves the creation of packages available under R, an active publications and communications policy, as well as numerous national and international collaborations, both with industrialists and research institutes.
